(PRESIDENT)

Welcome

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed members of Yoruba Cultural Heritage in France,
Friends, Families, Nigerians in diaspora, Nigerians in Nigeria.

The Yorubas are a great ancient people that represents the most vibrant and successful ethnic group to come out of Africa since the early 1900’s. The Yorubas are ancestrally indigenous to the region, but claim ancestry from a god-hero named Oduduwa. Yoruba language is tonal and spoken widely across Nigeria and some other parts of the world. Yoruba communities traditionally live in agricultural compounds, and many practice their native religion featuring a vast pantheon of deities and one tradition of the Yoruba tribe is to hold a festival every year to celebrate their ancestors. Examples of Osun, Sango, Oya, Ogun, Yemoja annual festivals.

The Yoruba are distinctly known for music, defined by one of the most complex drumming cultures in the world. There are a lot of cultures in the world, and hundreds in Africa alone, but the global fascination with the Yoruba is not hard to understand.

The beauty of Yoruba language can be noticed in such class like Poetry (EWÌ, ÌJÁLÁ ỌDẸ, Ẹ̀SÀ EGÚNGÚN), Ancestral eulogies (ORÍKI ÌDÍLÉ) and so on and so forth.
